In February 2002, Mango Airways, accompanied by Margaritaville's own Olaf Nordstrom,
travelled to the lower lattitudes of the Caribbean on an educational adventure of Papa Hemingway.
The expedition visited the western most keys of Florida, the inner islands of the Bahamas and travelled into the mystic
Habana Cuba where Hemingway based his book The Old Man and the Sea.
Imagine being able to relive some of the tropical lifestyle that fed the imagination of Ernest Hemingway's best writing.
Imaging travlelling to The Angler in Bimini where Hemingway retreated to write about fishing, the hotel room
at Ambos Mundos in old Habana where he began For Whom the Bell Tolls. Then to his house in Cuba San Francisco
where the Pilar still sits since 1961 and a final stop at the Floridita for a famous Daiquiri and a Mojito.
Then north across the Gulf Stream
to the gingerbread houses of Key West and the Hemingway Mansion where Arnold Stevenson met Papa.
Imagine the line jerking suddenly behind the Pilar as a giant marlin grabs hold and ol Papa takes a swig of
his whiskey and grins at you from atop the Pilar.
This site is intended for educators and students, and anyone else who wishes to climb aboard and travel with Mango Airways
as we return to the life of Hemingway in the islands.
Dreamcatcher's ready, the sun's also rising, and soon we will be airborne to the islands of pirates, great marlins,
flying boats, rhum drinks and soft sand beneath our toes...why don't you come with us...
